Imagine if you had access to enormous quantities of articles from magazines, journals and newspapers, all from your home computer – and only a mouse click away.
You do! The East Greenbush Community Library provides access to a number of databases
that you can use at home, for free, via the library’s website. This month, we will highlight one - EBSCO Master FILE Select.
This database digitizes articles from over 2,000 magazines and journals in a wide spectrum of subject areas. It allows you to search this enormous digital library by topic. It then allows you to access, read, and print out articles from your home computer.
Say your daughter has to write a research paper on any current topic, or you want to search consumer magazines for timely reviews of electronic products. EBSCO MasterFILE Select has it all – and it’s current, authoritative, and reliable.
So, why not just use Google? Because the content of EBSCO MasterFILE Select is unique to that database and cannot be found on Internet search engines like Google!
How can you bring this information power (as well as other useful databases) into your home? Go to the library's research/reference page. When you choose your database, you will be prompted to enter your library card number. Do that, and the world is at your fingertips! Available on our computers at the library as well.
For help using your library databases, call the Reference Desk at 477-7476, ext. 102.
